DC Vote Working to secure democracy for Washington, DC

Taxation Without Representation Taxation Without Representation

CALL THE WHITE HOUSE TODAY!

Last night, President Obama failed to mention DC democracy in his State of the Union address, despite the strong efforts made by DC Vote staff, supporters, coalition partners and elected officials throughout our State of the Union Campaign. We are very disappointed, because there was a clear opportunity for him to mention DC voting rights toward the end of his remarks when he mentioned other important civil rights issues, including a repeal of 'Don't ask, Don't tell' and immigration reform.

As we keep up the momentum and continue our efforts to get President Obama to speak out forcefully in favor of democracy for DC, we need your help: CALL THE WHITE HOUSE TODAY:

While we acknowledge and appreciate his support of our cause, we also need President Obama to help us educate Americans about DC's plight. America has a dirty little secret and it's time for President Obama to expose it. The President should also pressure Congress to move on the DC Voting Rights Act and the DC democracy bills introduced by Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC).

Together, we will continue to fight for voting rights and democracy for the District's 600,000 citizens. Thank you for doing your part to promote DC democracy.
