As many of you know, Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) is taking an intrusive and active role in DC local politics. Currently, he is pushing for H.R. 3803, a bill he authored to ban almost all abortions in Washington, DC after
20 weeks of pregnancy.
If Rep. Franks feels such an obligation to manage the affairs of the District, than he should be more than happy to respond to more mundane municipal requests from his DC "constituents."
On Wednesday May 23rd, DC Vote along with more than 50 DC residents visited "Mayor" Franks DC office to let him know that if he wants to run DC, there are other problems he needs to worry about too. Sadly, his office door was locked, and his phones went straight to voicemail.
That event spurred a tremendous amount of media coverage both locally and in Arizona. We need to keep the pressure on!
Today, "Mayor" Franks' office is open. He's answering his phone -- and he's still pushing H.R. 3803. If Franks is still interested in having authority over DC, we're still interested in coming to him with our problems.
We encourage all DC resident to call or Fax your problems to "Mayor" Franks, and let him know how what he can really be doing to fix Washington, DC problems. Also, please like us on Facebook and let your networks know
that Mr. Franks is eager to solve their local, DC constituent service problems.
